01 — Profile

Personal quality.

History and political science are both training in evidence. You are handed an incomplete record and expected to find the rest yourself, judge which sources hold up, and defend a conclusion in writing. Nobody gives you a finished data set, and nobody tells you which answer is the right one.

That is the part that carries into business. At the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a compliance case is a small research problem: is this company still operating, has the license actually lapsed, and does the record support escalation? I gather the documentation, check it against itself, and reach a decision I can explain to someone who disagrees with me.

I start an MBA at Florida State this fall to pair that habit with finance, accounting, and strategy. Most business decisions get made on incomplete information. I would rather be the person who goes and finds what is missing than the one who guesses at it.
